World Waste’s management team includes finance, engineering, operations,
fabrication and technology expertise in environmental and solid waste
projects. Drawn from the public and private sectors, these leaders
collectively have many years of experience in the waste business,
including operation of municipal solid waste processing facilities,
material recovery facilities, landfills, transfer stations, and hauling
and collection fleets.
John Pimentel - Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Pimentel has been a Director with WDWT since early 2004. Previously,
he worked with Cagan McAfee Capital Partners, responsible for portfolio
company management, strategy and investment structuring in industries
including energy and technology. In addition, he worked with Bain &
Company in their Private Equity Group, as well as the firm’s general
consulting practice. Mr. Pimentel has extensive operating experience
including service as Deputy Secretary for Transportation for the State
of California where he oversaw a $4.5 billion budget and 28,000
employees. Mr. Pimentel has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA
from the University of California, Berkeley.
Matthew Lieb -- Chief Operating Officer
Prior to joining World Waste Technologies, Mr. Lieb was the founder,
Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Kingsley Management, LLC for
nearly ten years. During his tenure at Kingsley Management, Lieb raised
nearly $63mm in funding in support of a retail rollup, developed
partnerships with national retailers and supervised numerous
acquisitions and new site developments. Mr. Lieb has also served as an
independent consultant and was an Airborne Ranger qualified officer in
the U.S. Army. Mr. Lieb holds a BS in Finance from Georgetown University
and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Michael Fatigati – Vice President of Engineering and Project
Management
Mike Fatigati brings over 26 years of experience
in project and technology development expertise to World Waste. His
degrees in biology, chemical engineering and his Master in Business
Administration provide him with a solid foundation to evaluate and
advance new technology, and assess their likelihood of commercial
success. As VP Engineering & Project Management, Mike will focus on
alternative fuel technologies, like biomass to liquids and biodiesel,
will enable WWT to expand its core competencies to other key markets. He
comes to us most recently from Delta-T, Inc. of Williamsburg, VA, a
technology leader in corn-to-ethanol production, where he served as VP
Technology Development focusing on core technology improvements and on
development of technologies like gasification of biomass, conversion of
syngas to alcohols, and biodiesel.
David Rane – Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Rane served for 6 years (1994-2000) as CFO of the Callaway Golf
Company (NYSE: ELY - $940M revenues) where he successfully ushered the
company’s growth in the public markets from its initial public status
through being a micro-cap stock, and into its current mid-cap stature.
David also served as CFO of Surebeam, a spinout from the Titan
Corporation (NYSE: TTN - $2B revenues), where he raised over $30M in
direct investment for the company. David worked 15 years at
PriceWaterhouseCoopers, is a CPA, and has a BS in Accounting from BYU.
DIRECTORS
Dr. James Ferris - Director
Dr. Ferris has 40 years of experience in pulp and paper. Most recently
he was Vice President of Research for pulp, paper and packaging at
Weyerhaeuser where he managed all research support for 6 business lines
and 14 manufacturing sites. He served as President of the Institute of
Pulp and Paper Science and Technology in Atlanta from 1996 to 2003, and
is currently a Trustee. Dr. Ferris received Lifetime Achievement Awards
from the Paper Industry Management Association and 2 other key industry
groups. He has a BS in Chemical Engineering from U of Washington, and an
MS and a PhD in paper science and engineering from the Institute of
Paper Chemistry.
Ross M. Patten - Director
Mr. Patten is the current Chairman and former CEO of Synagro (Nasdaq:
SYGR, a $325 million revenue company engaged in recycling bio-solids and
water & wastewater residuals). Mr. Patten has led the increase in
revenues at Synagro from $34 million in 1998 to over $325 million in
2004 through the successful execution of a growth and acquisition
strategy. Prior to joining Synagro, Mr. Patten enjoyed a 17-year career
at Browning-Ferris Industries, where he last served as Divisional Vice
President—Corporate Development. He also served as Executive Vice
President for Development of Wheelabrator Technologies, a Waste
Management, Inc. subsidiary, and Director and Vice President—Business
Development at Resource NE, Inc. prior to its acquisition by Waste
Management, Inc. Mr. Patten was a founder, principal and Managing
Director of Bedford Capital, an investment firm specializing in
environmental companies, and of Bedford Management, which provides
consulting services to publicly held waste management and environment
related companies in the areas of growth and acquisition strategy
formation and implementation.
Dave Gutacker - Director
Mr. Gutacker has 35 years experience as an industrial executive
specializing in waste and energy plant construction, operations and
management. Currently, he serves as chief executive officer of Gutacker
Group, a consulting firm specializing in evaluating and improving
waste-to-energy production projects. Previously, he was interim
president and CEO of Agrifos Fertilizer where he led a highly successful
two-year turnaround of that company. Mr. Gutacker also spent 14 years
with American Ref-fuel, advancing from its first plant manager to
president and chief operating officer of this premier $2 billion
waste-to-energy company. Earlier, he served 14 years with Occidental
Chemical managing complex engineering and industrial plant operations --
including plant manager of one of the first waste-to-energy facilities
in the U.S.
Sam Piña Cortez - Director
Mr. Cortez has been a principal at KCL Development, LLC since 2003,
where he provides business consulting and financial advisory services,
primarily to growth companies and new business ventures. Prior to KCL
Development, Mr. Cortez spent over twelve years in investment banking,
focused primarily in the environmental industry. From 2000 to 2003, Mr.
Cortez was a Senior Vice President at Lehman Brothers, and prior to that
he worked at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, Alex. Brown & Sons
Incorporated and Morgan Stanley International. He completed dozens of
capital raising and mergers & acquisitions transactions for
environmental companies, including Allied Waste, American Disposal,
Casella Waste, Chem-Nuclear Services, Envirofil, ReSource NE, Sanifill,
Stericycle, Superior Services, Synagro, United Waste, USA Waste, and
Waste Management. Mr. Cortez received an MBA from Harvard Business
School and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from UC Berkeley.
